KY 260 reopens in Hopkins Co. following bridge collapse

Local News

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials have reopened one lane of traffic on KY260/Eastlawn Road in Hopkins County.

The road was closed last Friday after the Old Otter Creek Bridge partially collapsed.

No vehicles were on the bridge at the time of the incident.

The incident on the bridge caused an extended detour for drivers.

Contractors expedited efforts to reopen the roadway with one lane of traffic on the new portion of the bridge, while they continue to work on the other half of the bridge.

The new Otter Creek Bridge was being constructed as part of the Bridging Kentucky Program, an effort to replace or repair more than 1,000 critical bridges in six years.

It’s a more than one million dollar project.

One lane of traffic will be maintained on the finished portion of the new bridge while construction continues on the other half.

The target completion date is November 1st.
