KY81 at Panther Creek Bridge closed until further notice due to bridge damage

Local News

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed the Kentucky 81 at the Panther Creek Bridge in southern Daviess County.

Officials say the bridge was damaged Wednesday afternoon by a truck hauling scrap metal.

According to early reports, some of the scrap metal hanging off the truck hit and severely damaged the bridge superstructure.

This area between Calhoun and Owensboro is closed until KYTC engineers determine when it can be repaired.

And we’re learning it could be months before it’s repaired.

Drivers should detour using KY-554, KY-2127/Todd Bridge Road and Keller Road.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area.
