One southbound lane on U.S. 231 in Daviess County remains closed on Wednesday after accident damaged the road on Tuesday.
The road was closed for much of Tuesday evening after a semi overturned, leaking molten metal onto the surface. This happened about a mile south of the William Natcher Bridge.
That molten aluminum caused a potentially dangerous situation after solidifying into a large piece of solid metal which had to be lifted and hauled away.
There is no time frame on when the southbound lane might reopen to traffic. Officials say contractors will be evaluating the lane this week.
