Update

The scene is now clear Wednesday at the site of a semi accident on the Natcher Parkway.

People had been working since 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to empty charcoal from the overturned semi truck.

Law enforcement brought in inmates from the Daviess County Jail to help unload the charcoal and make cleanup go quicker.

Original story

A semi accident happened late Tuesday night along the Natcher Parkway in Daviess County,

One southbound lane of the parkway was closed after a semi crash at the 64 mile marker.

The accident occurred when a semi hauling tens of thousands of pounds of coal ran off the road.

The driver tells authorities that his tire blew, causing him to lose control.

The semi hit a parked vehicle before overturning in a ditch.

The semi driver was not seriously hurt, but was taken to a nearby hospital to be examined.

Crews spent several hours offloading coal from the trailer.

Brief traffic stoppages are expected when it comes time to move the semi.

Crews are hoping to have everything cleared and back open by around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
