Local activist postpones forum due to scheduling issues

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A local activist is postponing a forum to address racial issues and excessive force following the arrest of a teen earlier this month.

Reverend William Payne posted on the Facebook page, and said it would be postponed due to scheduling conflicts.

Payne has not set another date for the forum. But says he wants to make sure there’s as much input as possible.

The forum will address racial issues, prison pipeline, and excessive force.

A viral video of EPD officers arresting a teenager sparked concerns over the officer’s use of force. However, EPD has said it was justified.

And the Evansville Chapter of the NAACP is investigating the incident.
