EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Thursday morning at 9, Academy Sports + Outdoors is partnering with the Evansville Police Department to bring 16 local children from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation on a special ‘National Night Out’ shopping spree.

Each child will be paired with a first responder and given a $150 Academy gift card to shop for apparel, footwear, sports equipment and more for the new school year.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes first responder-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer.

Academy also donated $2,500 to the Evansville Police Department Foundation as a ‘thank you’ for its dedication to the community, and is hosting similar events in 35 other cities across the South, Southeast and Midwest U.S.

Academy Sports + Outdoors is located at 6700 E Columbia Street in Evansville.
