Local Church donates $45,000 worth of food to Tri-State Food Bank

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made a substantial donation to the Tri-State Food Bank on Thursday.

Local representatives say the church will donate one 53-foot trailer load of around 24 pallets of shelf-stable commodities.

They estimate the value of the donation to be worth about $45,000, but executive director Glenn Roberts says the peace of mind this gift will give local people in need is priceless.

“It was a surprise and I looked at the list and said these are all the wonderful things we need to get out to our people… Staple items. It just warmed my heart because there is so much need out there,” Roberts said. “Many people who are food insecure have never been food insecure before and they’re seeking help. So, to get this type of donation is a Godsend.”

The Tri-State Food Bank is located at 801 E Michigan Street in Evansville.
