EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The United Caring Shelter in Evansville is finding a new way to help the homeless during the pandemic.
During the day, shelter officials are now able to provide washing machines to help the homeless wash their clothes and have access to a laundry facility. The facility had been needing new washing machines and flooring for months.
“For months that we didn’t have any it was that people had places to go, but even now and especially during the pandemic this COVID-19 crisis and we were kind of one of the only places that remained open,” said Jason Emmerson, Executive Director of United Caring Services.
Emerson says they have put the machines in a safe area. The facility also provides laundry supplies.
