Mad Magazine to halt publication after nearly seven decades

Local News

(CNN) – After 67 years, Mad Magazine will soon halt publication.

The satirical publication was founded in 1952 as a comic book.

In 1955, it switched to a magazine format and became a cultural touchstone.

Sources say the August issue will be the last one on newsstands.

And after that, issues will be available only via comic book stores and subscriptions.

The magazine will continue to publish its end-of-year special, books and special collections.
