Man accused of driving stolen vehicle, hiding from deputies in bean field

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said a man accused of driving a stolen vehicle ran from police on foot and was found hiding in a bean field.

Authorities said they were called to Colony Mobile Home Park in reference to the sighting of a stolen vehicle.

According to authorities, a deputy observed the vehicle on Graham Lane and the vehicle pulled into a driveway and parked behind a garage.

The suspect then fled on foot in the area of Webster Lane and Franklin Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.

A few minutes later, a resident on Webster Lane called 911 and said they saw someone running through their yard.

Authorities were able to establish a perimeter and they said they found James Matthew Hagan hiding in a bean field next to Yellow Creek Park.

He was arrested on the following charges:

Receiving stolen property under $10,000
Criminal trespassing (four counts)
Disorderly conduct
Operating on suspended or revoked operators license
