EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – William Buckman, who police say is responsible for the accident that killed a bakery owner in Evansville back in February, is in jail.

Police say Buckman was high on meth and pot when he crashed into Darla Smith’s car.

Smith was taken to the hospital where she died.

Buckman had been in the hospital for injuries he sustained in the accident, but he had been recently released from the hospital when police arrested him.

Buckman is being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

His next court appearance is August 13.
