ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — Indiana State Police said a French Lick man was arrested earlier this week on a charge of obstruction of justice, in connection with a previous investigation into a former teacher accused of child pornography possession.

Isral Qualkenbush, 37, is charged with obstruction of justice.

ISP said Qualkenbush aided 42-year-old Kari Buchanan in communicating with a juvenile victim via cellphone earlier this month.

ISP said Buchanan tried to persuade the victim to change their statement to the Orange County Prosecutor’s Office.

Buchanan, a former teacher at Springs Valley School, was arrested on a charge of child pornography for allegedly having inappropriate communication with a juvenile high school student in December 2018.

On June 5, Buchanan was arrested again on charges of obstruction of justice and invasion of privacy.

Qualkenbush was booked in the Orange County Jail before being released on a $1,005 cash bond.
