EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Police arrested a man on Christmas Day, after authorities said he started pointing and shooting a handgun at people.
Antonio Carey faces charges of criminal recklessness, pointing a loaded firearm, carrying a handgun without a license, intimidation, and criminal mischief.
Police said Carey put multiple people in danger by pointing a handgun at them in public and damaged a vehicle.
No one was hurt during the incident, which happened around the 1000 block of Powell Ave.
Multiple people identified Carey as the suspect, police said.
One man told police Carey pointed a handgun at him and fired two shots. The man said he did not know Carey and had never seen him before this incident.
According to police, the man was not shot.
A family member told police Carey was acting paranoid that day, saying someone was chasing him and he was ready to use a handgun.
The family member also said Carey had pointed the gun several times at children.
Police said two bullet holes were found on a neighbor’s vehicle, along with two shell casings near the vehicle.
Another neighbor had several children playing in his front yard when the incident occurred.
That neighbor said he heard the children scream that someone had a gun, so he rushed to get them inside.
The neighbor told police he saw Carey walking around in a circle, pointing the gun at houses and eventually in his direction.
