Man accused of trying to bribe officers to let him go

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A man accused in a hit-and-run accident tried to bribe officers with money, police said.

Berzain Velazquez-Moralez faces charges of bribery, hit & run accident violation, and operating without ever receiving a license.

Police said while Velazquez-Moralez was being transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail, he allegedly offered $500 for each of the two officers in the vehicle to let him go.

Police also said he told the officers to stop the car so he could call a friend to bring more money.
