Man accused of vandalism at church, hotel in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A man was arrested after he allegedly damaged property at St. Mary’s Church and the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Evansville, according to police.

Police said a witness saw Neil Stanoff break the front door of the church with a large rock and break the glass to the sign that tells the times of the services.

Stanoff is also accused of walking into the DoubleTree Hotel and ransacking the bathroom.

Police said Stanoff took a large potted plant and threw it and all the dirt around the bathroom, and then he threw trash all over the bathroom as well.

According to police, Stanoff said he was angry because his mom had kicked him out.

Stanoff is charged with criminal mischief.
