Man arrested following domestic disturbance in Jasper

JASPER, Ind. (WEHT)- The Jasper Police Department announced they arrested 18-year-old Maxwell Elliott after a domestic disturbance involving a firearm early Friday morning.

Officers say the responded to an apartment on 43rd St. in Jasper when they heard gunshots and saw a suspect holding a gun, reportedly pointing it at someone else. A short time later, Elliott exited the apartment with a gun in his hands.

Authorities say Elliott dropped the gun after being ordered to but tried to flee on foot before being detained by a Dubois County Sheriff’s Deputy. Elliott was later taken to a local hospital before being transported to the Dubois County Security Center.

Authorities reportedly found over 100 grams of synthetic marijuana, Elliott’s wallet containing methamphetamine, and several victims who Elliott held at gunpoint. Witnesses informed police Elliott was also under the influence of LSD.

Elliott was charged with criminal confinement, criminal recklessness, intimidation, resisting law enforcement, possession of synthetic marijuana, dealing a synthetic drug, possession of a stolen firearm, pointing a firearm at another person, and possession of methamphetamine.
