Man arrested on drug trafficking charges, investigation ongoing

DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (WEHT) — A Dawson Springs man was arrested and is facing multiple charges after an investigation involving the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Detectives say they received information beginning in 2019 alleging that Adam Hays, 41, was engaging in large-scale trafficking of crystal methamphetamine.

On May 22, 2020, Hays was arrested. Detectives say he had a significant amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a large sum of US currency, a pink revolver and a stolen vehicle. In addition, Hays was found to possess a large amount of suspected Fentanyl, imported from out-of-state.

He is facing the following charges:

· Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense – (> or = 2GMS Methamphetamine)(Enhancement)

· Importing Carfentanil, Fentanyl, or Fentanyl Derivatives (Enhancement)

· Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possess

· Receiving Stolen Property U/$10,000

Detectives say the investigation into Hays’ drug trafficking operation is still ongoing.
