A man has been charged with two counts of murder for his role in a crash that killed two people in Union County.
33-year-old Thomas Watson is also charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 2nd offense. The Union County Sheriff’s Office said his blood alcohol was more than twice the legal limit when he crashed into a vehicle on U.S. East on Saturday.
Donald West and Agnes Conia were both killed instantly when their vehicle collided with Watson’s vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. Watson was reportedly going more than 85 MPH, and accelerating, at the time of the crash. The sheriff’s office said West and Conia died instantly
The sheriff’s office said witnesses saw Watson run a red light.
Watson was booked in the Union County Jail around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
