Man charged with violating state of emergency, syringe possession

Local

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT)- According to an affidavit from the Evansville Police Department, Ronald Ritter was arrested early Friday morning after police found a syringe in his possession.

Police were initially called to the scene on Hatfield Drive after someone called saying a man was standing in the parking lot, outside of their window, and then squatting down behind some vehicles with another man.

Ritter told police he was in the parking lot deciding if he should go home or not after a sexual meetup that ended in a nearby apartment ten minutes prior and was not involved with anyone else trying to get into vehicles.

The responding officer instructed Ritter to take his hands out of his pockets and patted him down after he refused. Police say they felt a bag that “clearly” had a syringe in it. Ritter reportedly told the police he used the syringe to shoot up methamphetamine earlier in the evening.
