EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The man accused of leading Evansville police on a chase and then holding them at bay in an hour-long standoff made his first court appearance on Friday.

Jeffery Currie appeared in Vanderburgh Superior Court, where a judge ordered him to be held without bond and to return to court on December 27.

Police said Currie led them on a chase Thursday afternoon that ended near Fountain and Fulton Ave.

They said that’s when Currie ran into a house and refused to come out.

After about an hour, police used tear gas to go in and get him.
