(WEHT) – The first candidate to officially express interest in running for Congress for the seat currently held by Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) has stepped forward.
Shimkus announced in August that he would not be seeking re-election after more than 20 years in Congress.
Mary Miller, a Republican, announced she’s running for the Illinois 15th Congressional District seat.
Miller was born in Oak Park, Illinois and graduated from Naperville Central High School. She received a BS in Business Management and a BA in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University.
She and her husband Chris have been married for 39 years and run a grain and cattle farm together.
