After the deadline has passed for city and the Evansville IceMen hockey franchise to reach a new lease agreement, Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says the deal is deadlocked.

With the deal at an impasse, the IceMen’s days in the river city could be numbered.
We’re told that the city submitted yet another counter proposal to the IceMen and owner Ron Geary.
This offer came Wednesday morning, just hours before the noon deadline imposed by the commissioner of the ECHL.
The city argues that the IceMen’s most recent offer would cost the city approximately 100,000 to 125,000 dollars more than the current agreement.
In an email obtained by Eyewitness News, IceMen officials said the two parties are far from close. The city says it will not be releasing its proposals during negotiations.
Coming up Wednesday at 9:00 on Local 7, IceMen owner Ron Geary will be on Eyewitness News In-Depth with Brad Byrd to talk about these contentious negotiations.
