Mayoral candidate casts vote

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – In Evansville, the big race Tuesday is the mayoral race.

One candidate made sure to get his vote in early.

Eyewitness News caught up with Independent Steve Ary at the election office as he cast his vote to get his thoughts on the election.

“I want to represent the people well. I want to listen to the voice of the people to honor them, to represent them well. No matter where they stand. Tomorrow, we decide whether it is the elite who wins this election or if it is the people.”

After voting, Ary gave out one last campaign push on Facebook, encouraging people to head to the polls Tuesday.

Ary is running against incumbent Republican Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Libertarian Bart Gadau.

Winnecke says he’s running on his record built over eight years and he feels confident it will result in a victory.

If elected, this will be his third term.
