WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT) — A semi has overturned on Interstate 64-westbound in Warrick County, just before the Spencer County line, near the Holland exit.

The accident happened just before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The driver of the semi was trapped for about an hour before being cut out of the cab.

Indiana State Police say that the 71-year-old driver, who is from Ohio, had fallen asleep behind the wheel before to the crash.

Police said the driver suffered head and leg injuries in the crash. They are considered non-life threatening.

A medical helicopter has taken the driver to St. Vincent Evansville.

I-64 westbound at US 231 was closed to allow the helicopter to land, but is now back open to traffic.
