HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The US Fish and Wildlife Service is holding an informational meeting on a proposed wildlife refuge in Henderson County on Tuesday.

The meeting is being held from 6-8 p.m. at the Preston Arts Center at Henderson Community College.

The proposed refuge is part of a Conservation Partnership Area, a 53,000-acre expanse.

Within that larger boundary, the US Fish and Wildlife Service said it will acquire lands through the purchase of easements and fee title ownership only from willing sellers to create the 24,000-acre refuge.

It’s being proposed in the area near the confluence of the Green and Ohio rivers.
