EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – In Evansville, the phrase Mazzier Strong hits close to home for many.
Three months ago, Eyewitness News’ Grace Hayba sat down with Todd Mazzier who opened up to us about his battle with ALS.
Now, Memorial High School honored the alumnus and his love for soccer.
Tuesday night’s match ups between the Bosse Bulldogs and the Memorial Tigers girls’ and boys’ soccer teams were dedicated to Mazzier.
Mazzier graduated with the class of ’91 and was known for being a super-star athlete – on and off – the soccer field.
Many of Mazzier’s former teammates traveled to be there for the event from out of state and even out of the country.
“He doesn’t give up and he wants to be right. So, you know, he’s going to do whatever it takes to make sure he finds a way to try to find a cure to fight the good fight and just keep on going.”
Mazzier’s family says the money raised will help cover the expense of Todd’s travels to Connecticut for a new treatment.
