Mickey's Kingdom grand opening set for Saturday

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke is inviting the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Mickey’s Kingdom on Saturday, October 27.

The ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. at the entrance of the new playground, located along downtown Evansville’s riverfront.

Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch will be attending the dedication.

The ceremony will recognize the playground founders, volunteers, and corporate sponsors.

The playground is approximately 20,000 square feet and features a Liberty Swing and Ability Whirl (a merry-go-round with full accessibility).

Restrooms, seating, and an observation tower with a view overlooking the river are also features of the playground.

The playground has an estimated value of $1.8 million.

It replaces Kids Kingdom, which is being removed to make way for federally mandated improvements at the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility.
