More parking is coming to the Downtown YMCA.
The parking lot overhaul includes more handicapped parking spaces as well as increased security following an assault last year.
More lighting will be added in order to provide greater coverage of the parking lot in hopes of deterring crime.
The Water and Sewer Department has also joined with the YMCA to reduce flooding.
Crystal Paroyan, the Downtown YMCA Branch Director says, “This program will help divert rain water from the storm systems which will help with flooding so it’s a benefit for both sides – not only the Y for additional parking and better parking lots for the city, but also with the storm water.”
100 parking spaces will be added along with new landscaping.
The project started on Monday and will last ten weeks.
