Mount Vernon teachers rally from home on ‘Red for Ed’ day

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. (WEHT) – Not every Indiana school canceled class Tuesday for the “Red for Ed” rally.

Mount Vernon Schools did not make the trip to Indianapolis, but they still showed solidarity with their teacher brothers and sisters.

They were decked in red, holding signs calling for change.

Even some students wore red and took part in the demonstration.

Governor Eric Holcomb said he set a goal of making Indiana teacher pay not just competitive but leading the Midwest and he plans to push for changes in mandatory testing.
