EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Three women charged in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found near Ellis Park face a judge for the first time.

Ciarra Landfair is charged with Miller’s murder.

Lakeysha Couto and Gracie Smith are charged with assisting a criminal and obstruction of justice.

Investigators say Landfair killed Miller in a home in Evansville, then Cuoto and Smith helped hide her body behind Ellis Park.

Landfair told police the women were drinking in the home the night before Miller was killed, when Miller and Couto began fighting in the kitchen and living room.

Landfair told police that after the fight, Miller went to bed. Later that night, Landfair said Couto went into Miller’s room where she could hear them fighting.

As Landfair looked in the bedroom, she told detectives she saw Couto on top of Miller who was lying face down in a turned over recliner.

Landfair said Couto came out into the kitchen of the home and said ”her problems were gone.”

Evansville Police say Couto blamed Landfair for Miller’s death.

Landfair has requested a speedy trial and is being held without bond. She’s due back in court June 21st at 1 p.m.

Smith and Cuoto’s bond have been set at $150,000, and they’re ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family.

Smith is due back in court on June 20th.

And Cuoto is set to be back in court on June 21st.
