National Guard unit begins leaving Owensboro for overseas deployment

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – The first group from the 206th Engineer Battalion of the Kentucky National Guard left the airport in Owensboro on Friday.

People were watching as they prepared to head overseas.

More than 150 members of the 206th Engineer Battalion are beginning the process of deployment on Friday.

This is the first deployment for the battalion since 2006 when the unit went to Kuwait.

People are encouraged to line the route from the armory to the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, as the second group leaves at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
