FORT BRANCH, Ind. (WEHT) — Nationally-recognized artist Drew Cooper is scheduled to unveil a new mural in the same community in which he grew up.
Cooper, a Gibson County native and graduate of Gibson Southern High School, was sought out by restauranteur Candice Yancey to create a large mural on the side of R’z Café and Catering Company, a historic brick building located at 104 N. Main Street in Fort Branch.
The unveiling of the mural, entitled “All Together,” is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m.
A cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception will precede the unveiling.
Another untitled piece will also be unveiled.
Cooper, who now works out of Los Angeles, has become a highly-sought-after ultra-contemporary mural artist, known for his bold, floral style.
He has worked with major brands like Adidas, Mountain Dew, Vans, and even with rapper Nipsey Hussle in collaboration with Puma.
Cooper’s artwork can currently be seen on the basketball court in the Fort Branch Community Park.
Yancey says she is passionate about showcasing the talent of the Fort Branch area and wants the mural to not only be an attraction for years to come at the R’z Café, but also a showcase of the talent that has come from rural Gibson County.
