EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — A new Chick-Fil-A is coming to Evansville’s West side at an already busy intersection. The restaurant will be built on the footprint of the former Burger King at the LLoyd and Rosenberger. The location on the East side has been packed with people for years, navigating those drive-thrus.
Some businesses near the new location say they’re excited about what Drive-Thru traffic could mean for them. With the excitement though, comes concerns about traffic.
“That’s mainly how we come in here is just through that area so kind of figuring how they handle all that and take care of it so we’re hoping that maybe after the first month or two that they’re open we’ll kind of see it’s not as busy and they got the traffic taken care of,” said Olivia Gass with Great Clips. “With them being busy, hopefully bring in new customers for us to be able to take care of and serve.”
“We need a little bit more exposure being a mom and pop shop, we don’t have a national brand. We are very local so having that exposure will certainly help us, just people driving by 53:41 “We’re excited for it, it’s better than an empty building,” said Ryan Huck, Owner of Spankey’s Una Pizza.
The new location set to open this summer will be slightly smaller than the eastside location but will still offer multiple drive thru lanes. A city engineer with the City of Evansville tells us the entrance closest to Rosenberger Avenue will be a right-in-right-out only which they say should alleviate some of those traffic concerns.
