New Harmony holds annual July 4 celebration

NEW HARMONY, Ind. (WEHT) – The Town of New Harmony held its annual Independence Day celebration at The Atheneum on Thursday.

The celebration included a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Chuck Minnette, who said read the declaration was a big honor.

Retired Posey County judge James Redwine delivered the keynote address.

The celebration was sponsored by the University of Southern Indiana and the New Harmony Working Men’s Institute.

The celebration went to the streets with the annual golf cart parade.

The parade made its way down Main St., attracting people along the route.

Some decorated carts in red, white and blue for the holiday.

The celebration wrapped up with a cookout sponsored by the New Harmony Kiwanis Club.
