New Illinois law will prohibit employers from asking about salary history

CHICAGO (WEHT) – On Wednesday, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed legislation into law that would ban employees from asking job applicants about their salary history.

The law will also prevent employers from requiring that an applicant’s prior wages satisfy a minimum or maximum criteria.

The bill was signed at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens.
