New LST 325 visitor center set to open in May

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Port Authority met in Evansville Monday to get an update on the progress of the LST 325’s new visitor center.

The LST 325 is moving to its new home near Tropicana downtown. We’re told the project is going along smoothly and everything should be ready to open up on day one.

“The date that it opens is dependant on the LST relocating their ship to new facilities and opening the museum and gift shop and their offices at that time. Per the meeting, their tentative date is the first of May,” said Managing Architect Darren Morley.

He tells us that traffic restrictions near the construction site should be cleared up soon.

Eyewitness News’ Brad Byrd previously spoke to Chris Donahue about LST 325’s big move to downtown Evansville.
