Owensboro city officials just cut the ribbon on a new downtown parking garage.
It will have more than 430 parking spaces for people to use for work and for events at the Owensboro Convention Center and nearby hotels.
Mayor Tom Watson said it will bring a little relief to downtown parking congestion as plans continue for a third hotel by the convention center.
“For a while, it will help a lot, but as that new hotel gets completed, it will probably have several hundred spots there for the hotel. Right now, it will help considerably,” said Watson.
It took nearly $8 million to build the new garage.
