New restaurants, bars opening in downtown Owensboro

Local News

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT)- New life is coming to some empty storefronts in downtown Owensboro. Don Marios opened earlier this month where the old Bee Bops was on second street.

Work started down the street in a new pub at the site of the old Gambrinus Pub.

The new bar could open as soon as May.

Odalis Radilla one of the workers of the new pub says “there’s a lot of businesses that I’ve seen already being here and have left, but I see a lot coming and I’m actually excited to be one of them and already starting. That way, we have more traffic, more people, make it more of a vacation, destination spot.”

Officials with Mile Wide Beer company in Lousiville said they started plans on a new taproom and bar at the old CYO brewery near and Daviess streets.
