New survey shows millennials drive Valentine’s Day sales

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – A new survey shows that millennials plan to spend more money on Valentine’s Day than other generations.

The millennial age group, between ages 24 and 39, plan to spend $208 on food, entertainment, and gifts. The survey says those outside of that age group will only spend about $150 on average.

The survey says millennials cite newer relationships and social media as reasons for spending plans.

The National Retail Federation says adults in the U.S. are forecast to spend more than 27 billion dollars.
