NEWBURGH.Ind (WEHT)-A staple of the lent season was underway across the Tri-State Friday.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh held a drive-through fish fry instead of the typical sit-down experience.

Organizers say they made the decision to change because of the on-going coronavirus pandemic.

Steve Hansley, whose part of the men’s club of St. John in Newburgh says “Well we felt that this was a prudent way to do it we felt that this was a safe way for people to stay in their cars we arent even allowing people to do carry out we are bringing everything out of them taking the money there so we felt it was a prudent way to do it “

We’re told the fish fry at Saint James Church in Haubstadt is continuing as normal.
