Local News

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT)- A Newburgh man facing charges in connection with the death of an infant is scheduled to go to trial Tuesday.

Thaddious Rice faces charges of murder and neglect for the death of his girlfriend’s 10-month-old child in April of 2017.

According to the coroner, the child died from a head injury. Police said Rice originally told them the infant fell down a flight of stairs.

Prosecutors offered to let Rice plead guilty to neglect in return for a 40-year sentence. Rice turned them down.

If Rice is found guilty he will face life in prison without parole.
