Newburgh ordinance bans smoking in parks

A new ordinance in Newburgh means smoking will no longer be allowed at town parks or trails.

The Newburgh Town Council voted this week to ban smoking, including e-cigs.

Councilwoman Stacie Krieger said the ordinance is not official yet. The town still needs to decide on fines.

Council will meet with Newburgh police to talk about enforcement.

Krieger said it could be a month until the ordinance is on the books.
