Newburgh WWII veteran turns 100

NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – A World War II Navy veteran living in Newburgh turned 100 years old today.

Eyewitness News was there for Tid Turner’s birthday party.

Ladies from Tri-State Women Veterans helped her celebrate.

Turner says she served for 10 months before going to college and getting married.

“I always thought Uncle Sam was very good to me. cause he gave us our clothes and we had our meals and out shelter. So, I felt very fortunate.”

Turner says one her best memories is watching her three daughters grow up and finish college.
