No bids submitted by deadline for Gabe’s Tower development

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – The latest news on Gabe’s Tower is, the city was open for bids to develop the half-century-old tower, but no bids had been submitted by the deadline.

City manager Nate Pagan says they did not receive any proposals regarding the building on Triplett Twist.

The city bought the building this past September from former owner Bob Zimmerman for $360,000.

No official word yet o what the city will do now with the building

The back story:

Gabe’s tower in Owensboro was once a beautiful hotel and many great memories were made in the 13-story building.

Once the original hotel closed, the tower became the home of Owensboro Junior College of Business from 1979 – 1983, then became a Best Western Inn for a while before being turned in to several motels and then finally closing in 2001.
