OWENSBORO, Ky (WEHT) The planning continues for the revitalization of northwest Owensboro.
Community Development Director Abby Shelton says a final report on the plan should be done by early next month.
Suggested programs include focuses on new and improved housing, making homes more affordable, and block grants to improve rental homes and apartments.
“There’s a great need for affordable housing and market rate housing. Also, there’s a lot of dilapidated structures in the area that need some attention, so I will be working with property maintenance to identify those, and address issues as we see fit.”
Shelton also says they’ll look at improving neighborhood safety and more landscaping.
The city commission may vote on the plan as soon as later this spring.
