OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WEHT) – Oakland City University’s new president got the keys to his office.

The Board of Trustees named Dr. Ron Dempsey as OCU’s 10th president in early June.

Dempsey is taking over for Dr. Ray Barber, who recently retired.

In a ceremony Monday, Dempsey was given his presidential medallion. He says he is excited for what is in store for the university.

“It’s a very exciting place to be. I was very impressed when I was on campus for the interviews. With all the opportunities it has at Oakland City, I really think the Lord is really going to bless this place.”

Previously, Dempsey served as Vice President of University Advancement at Winona State University in Minnesota.
