A western Kentucky man was arrested after authorities say he tried to run over several law enforcement officers on Monday.
According to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, two troopers with Kentucky State Police and an Ohio County sheriff’s deputy were attempting to serve a warrant on 33-year-old David Vaught.
As they approached, authorities say a vehicle occupied by Vaught attempted to run the officers over.
On Tuesday, officers say they tracked Vaught to a store in McHenry where he was being picked up by his girlfriend, Kayla Philpot.
Officials tell us the vehicle was followed by law enforcement onto Highway 1245 when Vaught jumped from the vehicle and led an officer on a foot chase down Happy Hollow Road.
Vaught was arrested after a brief foot pursuit and is now in the Ohio County Detention Center facing a number of charges.
Philpot allegedly got into the driver’s seat and fled the scene when Vaught jumped from the vehicle.
A sheriff’s deputy found and arrested Philpot a short time later.
She’s charged with hindering prosecution.
