OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – One person has been taken to the hospital after being shot.

It happened just before 6:30 p.m. at English Park.

Owensboro Police have released few details about the incident but say one person was taken to the hospital.
The extent of that person’s injury is unknown.

A witness told Eyewitness News he was at the park with his wife and his kids to play when he heard a gunshot and rushed over to help.

“I just went over there and did what I was supposed to do. I took him and got something to apply pressure on the wound where he was shot, and talked to him, prayed with him and kept him mobile, kept him calm. And then, like I said, everybody was just screaming and I’m just trying to keep everybody calm.”

“He was talking to me, and I kept talking to him and kept him mobile where he could stay looking at me the whole time. You know, kept him conscious. One moment he wanted to close his eyes, and I said ‘No, keep you eyes open’, and he said ‘Okay’ and I just kept talking to him and kept him mobile.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call OPD at 270-687-8888, or Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484. Callers can remain anonymous.
