OPD identifies victim, suspect in shooting investigation; suspect faces charges of kidnapping, assault

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – The Owensboro Police Department said it responded to a shooting in the 2600 block of West Victory Court on Wednesday, and two people were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with injuries.

Police said 51-year-old Brian Scott Bailey of Owensboro had bound the homeowners’ hands and assaulted the victim.

Police identified the victim as 76-year-old Eugene Evans.

Police said Bailey was shot during the altercation.

He was treated for his injury at the hospital before being released. He was arrested on charges of kidnapping and assault.

Evans is believed to have possible life-threatening injuries at this time, police said.

Police do not believe there are any other suspects in the incident.

Both individuals were acquaintances, police said.

It happened around the 2600 block of W. Victory Court.

Police said at least one person was shot just before 9:45 a.m.

One person had significant injuries, according to police.
