OPD looking for suspects after officer injured during drug complaint call

(OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — Shortly before 11 on Sunday evening, officers from the Owensboro Police Department responded to a drug complaint call in the 800 block of Center Street.

After they saw suspected drug activity between a person inside a car and others in the parking lot, officers say they made contact with the suspects.

Officers say the suspects ran into an apartment, and the person inside the vehicle refused to leave the vehicle when officers told him to do so.  

Police say when an officer opened the car door for the suspect to exit the vehicle, the suspect accelerated at a high rate of speed, dragging the officer.  

Officers say the suspect in the vehicle fled the left the area and has not been located.  

OPD says the officer who was dragged was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle is described as a white passenger car, and the suspect who was driving is a white male.
